Electronic mannequin duo FEMM—short for Far East Mention Mannequins—are back for a vengeance gurl! After releasing minor snippets and hints of a supposed collaboration with American musician LIZ, the band have finally dropped the video to their new single “Do It Again”. It comes as a successor to their F-ing smash number “Countdown”, which, in my opinion, was arguably one of the best releases of 2016.
The new PV features all three girls in a vibrantly coloured home, having them play with a lot of toys, dressed in latex outfits, lots of bows and… the best of all… video gaming. Yussss gurl, work it! However, whilst the visual aesthetic itself is heavy with colours and textures, its best known for it’s, how you say, Fake 3D direction, where majority of the clips are placed in particularly slots on a black screen, and then have the girls literally reach out from their settings into the black screen as if they were reaching out of a television set. WHAT A FRICKEN AMAZING IDEA!
The song itself is a back-to-basics electronic number that utilises an atmospheric instrumental at the start of the song, which I LIVE for! I mean, sure, it isn’t the most catchy or hooky type of jam in comparison to their previous work—the same goes to the maddam of the moment herself LIZ—but with enough conceptual elements, dope-as-hell rapping segments, and interesting yet retro synths and keyboards, it’s definitely a song to have on y’all phones! So plug them earphones in, and get hypnotised by the awesome aesthetics of the FEMM x Liz collab! Fab!
The single is available on May 3, 2017 through iTunes!
